About Celina

North Dallas is one of the most popular spots in the entire state. People from all over the country are moving here from places like California, New York, Washington, and Illinois. And one of the most popular spots in North Dallas is Celina. If you haven’t already checked it out, we did a complete tour of Celina, Texas a while back where we talked about why exactly so many people are moving here and what the city is doing to accommodate such a large amount of people. Its future growth is ambitious, with a projected full buildout population of 380,000 and a potential population of 100,000 by 2026. 

The Venetian

Now while the Venetian is technically in Celina, it is about as far east in the city that you can get. If you take a look on a map, you’ll notice that it is surrounded by the small cities of Weston, Roland, and Melissa/Anna (another suburb that is experiencing rapid growth). 

It is around 11 miles from McKinney, 20 miles from Frisco and 44 miles from Dallas. 

The Venetian itself is a $450 million dollar community and is expected to contain around 1200 homes by the time it is finished. There will also be apartments within the community. There will be 5 total phases of development. 

But what really sets this community apart are its amenities. 

A 15 acre entertainment complex (not amenity center) will be built to keep the residents of Venetian busy and it will contain just about everything that you can think of.

Construction for the entertainment complex and lagoon started last year so it may take a couple more years for those to be functional. 

Things to Do Near the Venetian

The Venetian is going to have almost everything that you could want in a master-planned community and then some. And the things that won’t be at the Venetian, won’t be far either. There are plenty of fun things to do around Celina and McKinney. Whether you are looking for a nice spot for date night or somewhere to spend a weekend with the kids, you’ll find options on top of options almost everywhere you go. 

Some of the places that are family friendly include: 

Sharkarosa Wildlife Ranch- A 126 acre zoo in Pilot Point Texas with private tours and a petting zoo. 

The Cove at Lakefront- A water park in Little Elm Texas with surf machines and water slides. 

Old Celina Park- The largest Park in Celina

Miracle on 134th Street- A Christmas event held in Celina with over 2 million lights, train rides, and an 8500 square foot workshop. 

And for the adults, you’ll have plenty of places for fun as well: 

Valley Vines Tasting Room- Wine Tasting and Live Music Venue in Celina 

Eden Hill Winery and Vineyard- Vineyard in Celina with wine tasting events 

Schools Near The Venetian

The Venetian is part of McKinney Independent School District (ISD). With a rating of 89 from the Texas Education Agency, McKinney ISD is one of the fastest-growing school districts in Texas, serving over 24,500 students across 68 facilities spanning over 4 million square feet.

Elementary and Middle Schools

McKinney ISD contains 22 elementary schools, 5 middle schools, and three high schools. 

High Schools

When it comes to high school education, the residents of The Venetian are zoned for McKinney North High School.

McKinney North High School

Opened in 2000, McKinney North High School is highly acclaimed, receiving an "A" rating from Niche.com. Recognized as one of the best high schools for athletes in Texas and ranking among the top 6% of public high schools in the state, McKinney North High School currently serves around 2,000 students. It offers a diverse range of over 50 Pre-AP, AP, and dual-credit courses, as well as career and technology certificate programs. With an average SAT score of 1170, an average ACT score of 26, and a student-to-teacher ratio of 16:1, this school truly provides everything your high schooler may need.

Private Schools

For those looking for a private education, Mckinney-just a few miles away- has a few options including McKinney Christian Academy and Cornerstone Christian Academy, both highly rated.
